The star in my life

Everybody has a dream, and I believe even a dog or a kitty has their dream, too. Why such a thing, that everyone has, can play such an important role in one’s heart? Did you ever wonder why a dream, sometimes it comes so easy? To me, the reason is that, I believe I am unique and young. You’re different from me while I’m different from her. Maybe you want to be a painter and she wants to be a singer. We are young, we own the future, and we are the designer of our future. Every young man can have their own idea about the future. Even though sometimes it seems that your dream will not come true, you just can’t help thinking about it over and over, right?

To be honest, I dream to be a fashion designer. I loved those gorgeous glamorous clothes, especially for females’. I think making a lady looks charming is an amazing work. Once she put on those clothes designed by me, then changed into a princess, just like Cinderella. Now, dream is not only a dream but also a power sticking me on my future. I always think if you give your hopes everything you've got and you will catch the star that holds your destiny. Though barriers may sometimes stand in the way of my dreams, always remember that my destiny is hiding behind them. Accept the fact that not everyone is going to approve of the choices I am made, have faith in my judgment, catch the star that twinkles in my heart, and it will lead me to my destiny's path. Follow that pathway, I believe uncover the sweet sunrises that await me.

Catch the star that holds your destiny, the one that forever twinkles within your heart. Take advantage of precious opportunities while they still sparkle before you. Always believe that your ultimate goal is attainable as long as you commit yourself to it.

I Feel

I don’t know why I am here, but I know I have an important test in this examination hall. When I   walk along the passage, I see many students waiting outside the examination hall. The teacher opens the door and we enter the hall one by one. I feel ready. I know that they are excited because of their whispering mouths. Obviously, we are trying to recall what we memorized. I try to calm myself and walk into the examination hall. The examination hall is very small but clean and orderly. All desks and chairs are arranged six by seven in straight lines. I walk between the desks to find my name on a piece of paper, sit down and only put two pencils on the desk. During examinations, I feel nervous and sometimes my mind becomes blank. “Tick-tock…Tick-tock…Tick-tock…” The clock noise in my ears makes me anxious and uneasy. Wind through the window, it is spring now, but still makes me cold in my body. I am shivering and yawning. After that, I attempt to focus my mind to the exam. “Nearly… Nearly…” I said to my mind. My brain is in high-speed operation to find answers. The noise of the pencil crosses the paper faster and faster. Finally, I finish the exam, put the pencil down and exit into a warm spring. I feel the warm wind across my face.

Poetry

Help Wanted    Shane Koyczan

"What Teachers Make", by Taylor Mali, is a poem which talks about how teacher make difference in children. Teachers “make parents see their children for who they are and what they can be.”  They don’t work for the money, “teachers make a goddamn difference”, and teach them how to learn, and how to think. Taylor use first person point of view to talk about what teachers do in the life, because he is a teacher.

Dialogue

I anxiously stated, "I was sick with a fever last night!"

"But you look good now," replied Mr. Van Camp.

"Because I went to the hospital," I mumbled, "the doctor said my temperature was 45 degrees! So all last night I was on I.V. fluids."

"You can still work with an I.V. !"

I moaned, "But the I.V. was in my right hand so I couldn't write!"

"Why didn't you text with your left hand? You can still work with your left hand," Mr. Van Camp suggested.

"The nurse put ice on my head to make me feel cooler," I cried, "but in when the I.V. was down, the ice melted on my head! The water flowed down myself and my phone! It is broken!"

She must be dying

Look at the picture; it is an old woman smoking in the picture. The old woman wears a large, brim, straw hat to show her face. Her frizzy grey hair is very dry, curly and short. In her face, the wrinkly skin looks like a busy city road in a Chinese rush hour; furthermore, the smoke looks like exhaust from the cars covers her busy face to the sky. Enjoyment makes her close her eyes. The patchy eye liner is on her closed eyes which make the eyes look big. The smoke looks like a cloud covering her wrinkled, pink lips. A cigarette is in her short finger nails. Masses of jewelry on her face: one blue turquoise ring, two silver rings, and two big pink flower earrings in her ears. A flower print shirt covers her body and one long necklace hangs around her neck. The big silver flowered necklace makes her neck appear skinny. Smoke makes her look too old. She sits on the chair because she has no strength to stand up. She must be dying.
